Biography of Douglas Hammond, Pastor at Berean Baptist Church:
Pastor Hammond and his family arrived to take the pastorate at Berean Baptist at the beginning of 2014. For the previous 10 years he and his wife Monique were church-planting missionaries to the Pacific Northwest in the region of Seattle, Washington. After a brief time back in South Carolina the Lord directed them to our ministry in Belleville, Michigan.
Pastor Hammond was reared in Upstate South Carolina and attended Bob Jones University where he pursued and earned a ministry degree in Bible. While finishing at Bob Jones University he met his wife, who grew up in Knoxville, TN, and they were married in 1993 following their graduations. Pastor Hammond subsequently earned a Master of Ministry degree at BJU Seminary in 2005. Prior to beginning his graduate degree he served as a youth pastor near Kalispell, Montana.
While finishing the seminary degree at Bob Jones University he applied with Open Door Baptist Missions in Greenville, SC in order to serve as a church planting missionary. Following a deputation ministry their family moved to Seattle, Washington in 2005 to establish a Baptist church in the city of Federal Way, a suburb of Seattle. In 2012, following 7 years of ministry in Seattle, the Lord lead them to return to South Carolina while seeking further ministry. Pastor Hammond brings to Berean his wide experience in both rural and suburban ministry. Even more, he brings a burden for souls and a passion for biblically-sound preaching.
The Hammonds have three children: Gabrielle, Douglas, and Roderick.
